2023 Pantone Colour of the Year

For over two decades, the PANTONE ‘Colour of the Year’ has been a highly anticipated announcement because of the way it influences the world of design, fashion, and retail.

The PANTONE Colour of the Year for 2023 is Viva Magenta! The colour can be described as “powerful and empowering” and is a descendant of the red colour family, with pink tints, characterised by PANTONE “as an encouragement of experimentation and self-expression. Without restraint, an electrifying, and boundaryless shade that is manifesting as a stand-out statement."

A contrast to last year’s cool tones of Veri Peri, Viva Magenta is bold, bright and here to make a statement, we’re sure this daring colour will radiate its brave spirit in 2023.

Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Colour Institute, explains the colour was inspired by a natural, red dye from small insects called cochineals.
