NEW Pantone Connect Subscription for Adobe and What It Means

Pantone colours have always been a free-to-use service on the Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign and illustrator) – BUT, this has now changed! For those wanting to use design industry standard colours, a fee will now have to be paid. 

What is Pantone?

The Pantone Colour System is a standardised colour-matching system that is used in many design-based industries. Invented in the 1960s to allow designers to colour-match shades regardless of the production process, this revolutionary design tool has been allowing companies to assign exact colours to their brands knowing it’ll be exact with each application for over 60 years. 

Each Pantone colour has a certain number so specific shades can be used across different design mediums and software ensuring it is the same whenever it’s used.

Pantone Connect Subscription and What It Means for You

In November 2022, Pantone ended their deal with Adobe, meaning anyone wanting to access the Pantone colour system will need a separate subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud, called Pantone Connect. This colourful Adobe add-on allows designers to access Pantone’s 15,000+ colour library and use these industry-recognised colours in their work! Without Connect, files that once had Pantone colours could now appear black.
