After the ‘non-event’ that was Christmas 2020, it is highly anticipated that Christmas 2021 is going to be an even bigger deal than normal. So, what will be a perfect Corporate Christmas gift this year? |
We start off our 'Christmas comes early to Allwag' blog series with the humble Advent Calendar!
The history of advent calendars |
Dating back to the 19th century, the tradition of marking the days until Christmas with chalk, or by lighting candles became common practice starting on 1st December. |
The first printed advent calendar originated in Germany in the early 20th century by Gerhard Lang, who later grew up to operate the Recihhold & Lang printing company, where they printed the first advent cardboard calendar, growing to include the little doors that everyone knows and loves to open to this day*. |
Did you know the largest ever advent calendar, according to the Guinness Book of World Records was 71 metres high by 23 metres wide and was built at St Pancras Station in London to commemorate the station’s refurbishment in December 2007!** |
The modernisation of the advent calendar |
These days, advent calendars have evolved. You can still buy ones which include the traditional chocolates, but there are now themed advent calendars featuring cosmetic products, gin, beer, wine, cheese and so much more! |
A branded advent calendar is a guaranteed way to make your staff smile every day (who doesn’t love a daily dose of chocolate)! Plus it’s also 24 days of the recipient being reminded of your brand and that you are thinking of them. |
Why it's not too early to be thinking about Advent Calendars
It may only be August, but it’s certainly not too early to be thinking about ordering your advent calendars. In fact, the earlier the better as they can start being produced as early as June! And you don’t want to miss out on the order production slots. |
We start taking orders to produce advent calendars in batches throughout the second half of the year, so the sooner you get your order in, the more peace of mind you can have knowing that your calendars will be ready in plenty of time before December. And if everything is approved in plenty of time, it means your calendars will be the first to land on people’s desks. |
